Nylon Stockings and Static Electricity

Have you ever noticed an increase in static electricity when you wear nylon stockings on a windy day?

Static electricity and nylon stockings can shock you when you get out of a car, when you touch a tap or anything metal. Even the kitchen sink can give you a shock. These shocks can make you jump!

The weather doesn't even have to be windy sometimes because some people have dry skin and the constant contact with the nylon builds up electricty in your body that you feel whenever you touch anything metalic.

The cure for this is hand lotion or body lotion rubbed over your body before putting on your nylon stockings.

Even though the material in nylon stockings is actually spandex, it originates from nylon. We still call them "nylons" because that is what we were introduced to them as being called.

Static electricity caused by rubbing friction with the nylon though is no joke. It actually hurts a bit. Apart from that, when you get out of a car and touch the metal door handle the sudden shock brings you down to earth immediately.

If you have never had this problem you will not be aware of how uncomfortable it actually is but if you have had the problem, invest in a good moisturising lotion and use it liberally. It really does help.
